Yoga can actually help you lose weight, too! However, some poses do not raise your heart rate enough to help you slim down.

If you want yoga to be your major source of exercise, there are some specific poses you need to include in your practice to help you achieve your weight loss goals.

Yoga poses that help you lose weight include warrior, boat, hover and chair. Most instructors, whether teaching through a gym, studio or even a DVD, include these postures in their routines. These yoga poses help you lose weight by invigorating and restoring balance in the body.

Warrior and chair pose are great leg workouts and help build muscle and strength while also slimming down the thighs and buttocks. If you decide to keep your yoga workout in the comfort of your own home, purchase 90 minute DVD’s that mention “weight loss”.

We all know that in order to lose weight, you must eat a healthy well-balanced diet and exercise, and while some of these poses may not seem very intensive, if done properly, they can burn calories and help you lose weight. Keep in mind that weight lost through yoga will not be drastic; however, it will be healthy and natural!
