Write Your Way to Good Health!

This year, along with your to-do lists, maybe it’s time to start keeping track of your health as well. Starting a health journal can help you remember any past surgeries, allergies you may have and medications you could and couldn’t take.

This is especially important for people who were prescribed a particular medication and unable to continue the dosage due to an allergic reaction.

Also, year after year, sometimes around the same time of the year we seem to feel ill or even exhibit symptoms of depression. Keeping a health journal can help you deter from those old behaviors and steer clear of feelings of sadness or illness. Just think, the next time you feel ill or depressed it could be due to seasonal changes.

Your health journal should include the following:

  • Mood changes
  • Eating habits
  • Sleep cycles
  • Exercise habits
  • Energy levels

Since eating a well-balanced diet is one of the most important tasks in order to stay healthy, writing down the foods you have eaten in a day should be considered for your journal.  Many individuals watching their weight keep food journals that help them see all the calories they have eaten in a day. This is turn allows them to lose weight and not make the same caloric mistakes twice.

It may seem silly, but keeping a health journal really isn’t so far-fetched. Keeping a journal for your well-being can inspire you to become more health conscious and notice any changes in your mind and body.
