Acne is one of the most common skin problems. We have all had a pimple or two at some point. But, for some people, acne is more problematic.
When people have excessive pimples or blackheads, it’s known as acne. Acne occurs when sebaceous glands (glands in the skin) secrete an oil called sebum. This oil clogs your hair follicles, trapping dirt and dead skin and leading to acne.

Acne usually affects teenagers. However, even people in their 40’s have been known to experience outbreaks.

- Keep your skin clean. Washing daily will remove dead skin and help remove harmful oils. Do not use abrasive scrubbers, as this may lead to further scarring. Wash the affected areas gently with your hands or a soft wash cloth.
- Avoid excessive makeup. Use it sparingly to avoid clogging your pores.
- Try to avoid touching your face. Doing so can spread bacteria. And, never pop pimples or blackheads. That will only make things worse.
- Exercise daily. Exercise can benefit almost every aspect of your life. When working out, avoid clothes and exercise equipment that can rub your skin. This can spread bacteria and irritate the skin. Always remember to wash up immediately after you work out.
- Reduce your stress. Stress affects almost every part of our health. Studies have shown a correlation between stress and acne, so relax! Figure out what is stressing you in life and try to change it.
