Stress Less for Health

Many of us are familiar with the short story “All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten”. While life as adults is far from simple, the take-away message certainly can help when stress seems insurmountable and problems seem intricately complicated.

Stress not properly managed can wreak havoc on our psychological and physical well-being, so it’s important to tackle problems and worries before they snowball. In the cases where being prepared isn’t possible, having the right mindset to clearly think through a solution can make the difference between having a breakdown or a breakthrough.

Here are some “grown up” versions of tips from the story to help manage stress:

* Find balance everyday. While we may not literally draw, paint, or dance as children often do, carving out some “me” time on a daily basis will help ease tension and allow creative energies to flourish.
* Practice hygiene for health. Getting sick can lead to stress, as it usually disrupts your daily routine. Washing your hands seems like a no-brainer, but it’s commonly forgotten or disregarded before eating, yet is one of the easiest ways to help prevent sickness.
* The occasional diet detour is ok. While we shouldn’t overindulge in sweets, it’s better to have a healthy self-image, practice moderation and eat a balanced diet than to create undue stress and pressure on ourselves to be “perfect”.
* Support can go a long way. As kids, we’re taught to ‘stick together’ before crossing the street. As adults, it’s ingrained in us to be resilient and independent. While these are admirable traits to have, there’s nothing wrong with recognizing when you need help from a friend, family member, or professional.

Whether you apply some of these tips or seek out other ways of your own, remember to try focusing on achieving balance and incorporating natural ways to release stress into your daily routine.

St. John’s Wort, Passion flower, Scullcap and Valerian are all herbal remedies that help relieve stress-related anxiety and tension, and greatly compliment a holistic lifestyle.

Triple Complex Calm Tonicis a homeopathic remedy relieves the effects of stress, worry and nervous tension, plus supports nervous system health.
